It has been some time since I last wrote an article that was a bit technical and not at all pedagogical. Today I want to talk about the conditional formatting of Google spreadsheets. Recovering a functionality of my gradebook I have found this casuistry and, if you don’t know it, maybe it can be useful for you.
As most of you know, conditional formatting in spreadsheets, as the name suggests, allows the formatting of a cell to change if certain conditions occur. For example, we can make a cell with a number appear red if it is negative or black if it is positive. What I want to show in this article is how to change the format of a cell based on the values we enter in another cell that is also in another tab of the same spreadsheet (or better said, in another sheet of the same spreadsheet).

A few years ago I wrote an article explaining why I would not use the shared drives. After the latest changes that Google has made and which are spreading to all the G Suite for Education domains, I think that the time has come to use them to organize the centre’s documentation.
Basically, they have two advantages over a shared folder.

CLASS-MON is a Google spreadsheet add-on that helps students reflect on the activities they have done or their attitude in the classroom sessions.

It’s been a couple of weeks since Google turned on Drive’s file shortcuts. Until then, Google had a little hidden the possibility of having the same file in two or more different folders. I say something hidden so that it wouldn’t appear in any menu, it could only be achieved with a combination of keys or dragging with the mouse and pressing a key at the same time.

I’m coming back from Madrid on the AVE and I’m taking advantage of these three hours to write a post. I’ve just spent a day and a half with the coordinators of the GEG Spain community. I’ve been one of them for a two years and today I want to talk about the community and its coordinators.
First of all, I want to make it clear, for me it is one of the most important communities I have to improve my teaching practice. Belonging to this community, and especially to the moderation team, makes me evaluate, reflect and improve my work (and passion). Therefore, let me begin by thanking the 13 members of moderation for their work and constant involvement, and the rest of the community for their contributions.
