Without getting into methodological questions about Flipped classroom, whether at home or in class, students watch many Youtube videos. I thinks It&#8217;s positive because it&#8217;s a good way to learn.<br \/>\nHowever, it has risks and it is important to be able to control a little what our students look at. In this sense, if students are using Chromebooks computers managed by the center in a G Suite domain, it is possible to configure filters to display only the appropriate videos.<br \/>\nThe procedure for setting up the G Suite management console to filter Youtube videos is not exactly intuitive, so I&#8217;ll go into detail in this article.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Basically, three things have to be configured in two different sections of the console.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, you have to configure the Youtube application. In my case, I indicate a moderate restriction for the students and for the teachers I indicate that they can approve videos.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1766\" src=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/s4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"622\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/s4.png 861w, https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/s4-300x117.png 300w, https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/s4-768x300.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>The moderate restriction will allow students to view the videos that Google has tagged as appropriate. In addition, they will be able to watch other videos that teachers have approved, even if Google doesn&#8217;t label them as appropriate.<br \/>\nIf a strict restriction is chosen, students will only be able to watch the videos that teachers approve.<\/p>\n<p>The second thing to configure, even within the Youtube configuration, is the content section. Check the option that Users can only view videos that are restricted or approved. It&#8217;s also nice to check that verified classroom teachers can approve videos.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1768\" src=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/s5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"596\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/s5.png 596w, https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/s5-300x189.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">If we stayed here, the students could access YouTube, choose logout option and they could watch any video by skipping the restriction. Therefore, the restriction continues working.<\/p>\n<p>If configured in this way, teachers will see a blue strip under each video. This strip can indicate three things:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Watchable by domain: indicates that it is a video that Google considers appropriate and students can watch it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1757\" src=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.28.06.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"315\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.28.06.png 315w, https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.28.06-300x142.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 315px) 100vw, 315px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Video not approved: the students can&#8217;t see it, but a button appears for the teacher to approve it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1758\" src=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.29.47.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"646\" height=\"92\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.29.47.png 646w, https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.29.47-300x43.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 646px) 100vw, 646px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Video approved: it is a video that students can watch because a teacher has approved it, although Google has not marked it as appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1759\" src=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.30.26.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"317\" height=\"94\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.30.26.png 317w, https:\/\/tecnocentres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screenshot-2017-10-03-at-17.30.26-300x89.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 317px) 100vw, 317px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From G Suite administration console, the administrator can see which videos have been approved by teachers. You have to go into Applications \/ Other applications \/ Youtube, display the Content section and choose the View approved videos option.
